Nautica

Nautical objects from
the collection of Esbjörn Hillberg

Shortly, we will publish the first of two very special auctions for nautical objects, all from Esbjörn Hillberg’s collection, former on the island of Donsö in the Gothenburg archipelago.

The two auctions will be held at our auction house in Lund, and will be a rare opportunity to get acquainted with nautical objects that have been collected with great knowledge and deep commitment.

Esbjörn Hillberg was an engineer and programmer, working on developing early logistics systems for freight in the port of Gothenburg. He founded the Swedish Lighthouse Society with the aim of protecting Sweden’s lighthouses, an essential part of our marine cultural heritage, but which have become increasingly less important with the development of navigation technology.

Esbjörn Hillberg’s collection of forty shelf meters of literature about lighthouses can be found today at Gothenburg University Library.
